In a recent Gazette article, Robert Deignan discussed the future of automation and the effect it will have on employment over the next several decades. He believes that the impact will not be nearly as severe as some experts are predicting. While there are indeed a multitude of processes that can and will be be automated in the future, there are several tasks that will still need the human touch in many fields such as health and human services and emergency management. In addition, there will be many people that will simply still prefer interacting with other humans over machines.
The key point that Robert makes is that even with the wave of automation coming, people should not be afraid of technology, they should embrace it and learn to work with it. With technology expanding at a rapid pace, there will be tremendous opportunities for people to develop new skills and re-invent their careers.
Robert Deignan works and resides in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area with his family. He enjoys participating in fishing tournaments and thrives on daily visits to the gym as well as disconnect time in the morning for some coffee and brainstorming.
